 KILOWATT KRACKDOWN

Kilowatt Krackdown, an initiative launched by the committee in July 2009, challenges the industry to decrease building energy consumption by 30% and help our industry benchmark energy performance through the EPA’s ENERGY STAR tool. Property managers, facility managers, maintenance staff and building engineers are invited to enter their buildings into a competition for recognition of their energy performance compared to similar building categories!    GOLDEN DUMPSTER AWARD

Did you know that the amount of wood and paper we throw away each year is enough to heat 50 million homes for 20 years? Or that Phoenix recycles only 16% of its trash. That means that 84% goes to a landfill. The Green Buildings Committee wants to encourage our BOMA Properties to help with this problem.  And so we’ve created the Golden Dumpster Award Program which gives an award to commercial properties that have made significant achievements in the areas of waste reduction, recycling and tenant education.  Click on this link to get more information.

   STOP DROPS

The Green Buildings Committee would like to invite our BOMA properties to participate in a Water Conservation program that we are launching this year. Water can be lost from plumbing systems, water pressure, and inefficient landscaping system.

We will be judging this award program by using the same site we judge the Kilowatt Krackdown awards, Energy Star. Energy Star has a section were you can enter the data from your water bills. If you’re already in Energy Star and sharing your information with “BOMA PHOENIX” this should be very easy to do. Click on this link to get entry information.
